Focus Group Recap
The Setting
November 2004: This is the view from Deidre and Jackie’s “suite.” This is where we waited for two hours while the focus group convened to discuss our book concept. There was a daunting crevice separating us from the focus group, which was six suites away towards the right field foul pole. It was impossible to eavesdrop so we just relaxed, enjoyed the scenery and had some great conversation. The management at SAFECO Field was great. Rem manned the door and helped make sure no one was lost on the way to the meeting. The lights were on in the parking lot and the field so everyone felt safe and got a great view. Special thanks goes out to Adee Wada, our event coordinator, who arranged the room and helped us get everything set up properly. Also, thanks to Jennifer Mojo and Ben Barton: the focus group wouldn’t have worked without your help and savvy solutions. The Getaway
Deidre and Jackie conspicuously leave the scene…..we’re off to FX McRorys to meet the coolest group of baseball fans. See how fast we are driving? The Savvy Girls
Just about everyone from the focus group was able to join us for an “after party” at FX McRorys in Pioneer Square. This was great for Deidre and Jackie because we didn’t know many of the attendees. What a delight it was to sit and chat with these wonderful and intelligent women. From reading everyone’s surveys, we’ve learned that baseball can be a true bridge between cultures. We heard from more than 150 women ranging in age from 86 to 14, from red states and blue states, with one common enjoyment and a host of passionate and humorous baseball stories. Special thanks to those women who joined in our focus group. Your time and ideas are invaluable to our project!
